  • We have a 5 day week! 😁
  • Homework will be given out on Monday and should be returned no later than Friday. Please remind your child to turn in their reading journal along with their math homework.

Reading -
  • Reading longer books and reading with our classroom buddy.
  • Chunking longer words into smaller parts to help with decoding and spelling.
  • Learning different vowel patterns to support decoding and spelling. The sounds we are learning are /ir/, /er/, and /ur/.
  • Continuing to learn about the 6 syllables types. We have learned closed, open, magic and now r-controlled.the 6 syllable types poster


  • Continuing to work on activating background knowledge, identifying main ideas, determining what is most important in a book, questioning and making connections to self, a book, or the world.

Writing -

  • Writing and illustrating 5 senses and color poems.
  • Always looking at grammar e.g. uppercase letters, end marks, nouns, verbs, adjectives and the 4 types of sentences.

Math -

  • Number Corner -
    • Identifying and writing fractions.
    • Making and answer question about graphs.
  • Bridges -
    • Starting a measurement unit.
    • Using non-standard measurement and talking about inches, feet, and yards.
    • Introducing standard measuring units.

Science and Social Studies-

  • Continuing learning about Europe and Australia.
  • Starting to learn about erosion.

Can you believe it?  Please read all the notes carefully this week.  There is a lot happening.  At the end of the post is a letter from the 2nd grade team about the field trip.   We need three  to  four volunteers for our Summer Celebration on the 13th.  Please make sure you have  a current CORI if you are going to volunteer.   Monday June 5th  is Game Day.  Don't forget to bring in a game from home.  No electronic games  Tuesday June 6th will be PJ, Stuffed Animal Day and a towel to sit on.     June 7th field trip to the aquarium .  June 8th will be Movie Day so bring a towel to sit on.    June 9th Field Day -  T-sh

  Welcome to Ms. Davis' Class  Special Schedule:  Monday -  Field Day no special      Tuesday  - STEM     Wednesday  - 1/2 day no  special Lunch:  Monday -  Hamburger, cheeseburger or veggie burger     Tuesday -  Chicken and rice  casserole Wednesday - 1/2 Day no lunch Monday:    Field Day Reminders! Monday, June 12th Don’t Forget: Bring dry clothes to change into after field events. This includes a change of shoes, socks, and underwear, along with shorts/pants and a shirt ! Students should bring 2 towels. One to dry off with before they change out of wet clothes and into dry ones and 1 to sit on for lunch. Bring in a plastic bag for wet clothes and towel (we don’t have any at school). Put sunscreen on before you get to school! Bring a reusable water bottle ( with your name on it ).   Short socks are encouraged as this makes it easier to change! Bring a snack, as you usually do, for later in the day. *Bring a positive attitude and good sportsmanship!!      Tuesday: Beach Day Celeb
