  • Our Valentine's Day Party will be on Tuesday, February 14th.  Students will handout valentines and have a special snack at the end of the day.  I will be sending out the first names of each student this week so that you can start to work on the valentine cards.  Please remember no food, or candy.
  • The Hundredth Day should be next week.  There will not be a home project this year.  However, we will be doing different activities that day to celebrate.
  • REPORT CARD CHANGES

Report cards are being written now and will be available online on 2/10.  Mr. Bemiss linked a parent/guardian letter in his family newsletter this past Friday.  PLEASE take the time to read the parent letter found in the link.

There has been a change to the wording of the academic performance levels (N, P, M, E) to indicate academic performance “at this time of year” – measured by “standard expectations at this time of year along the learning progression for that standard” (midyear point) vs. standard expectations for the end-of-year.

Therefore, a difference you will see is that where last year, a student making progress toward the end-of-year standard expectations would have received a ‘P’, if while making progress at this time toward that standard, that student has mastered expectations at this midpoint, they will receive an ‘M’ for that standard.

Also note, at the end of the parent letter, it states that “a student may meet the midyear grade level learning target for a standard, but as expectations increase during the next marking period, the student may not demonstrate the same level of proficiency moving toward the end of year standard; thus a student might receive an M in Term 1, but then receive a P in Term 2”.
