NOTES
This month we will be learning about Hanukkah and Christmas. When we get closer to each holiday, I will be letting you know when your child can bring something pertaining to the holiday, or share what your family does on the holiday.
Our winter craft party will be on Thursday, December 22nd from 11:30 until 12:30. Please let me know if you want to volunteer. I will forward your email to Brenda Bailey. The crafts must be winter themed.
What we are working on.
Reading:
Finishing unit 1 and 2 syllable silent “e” words with suffixes.
Starting to learn about open syllables.
Reading nonfiction books and doing the following: Activating background knowledge, identifying main ideas, determining what is most important in a book, questioning and making connections to self, a book, or the world.
Writing:
Writing nonfiction books.
Finishing shared dolphin research.
Starting an independent animal research book.
Always looking at grammar e.g. uppercase letters, end marks, nouns, verbs, adjectives and the 4 types of sentences.
Math:
Number Corner: Creating surveys and graphing our data along with looking at patterns, and adding 10 and 9.
Bridges Math:
Discussing height and length.
Determining the difference in students' heights using an open number line.
Subtracting on an open number line.

Science/Social Studies:
Finish learning about North America and labeling a North America map.
