Update for the Week of December 19th

NOTES

  1. Hanukkah has started and Christmas will be here soon.  If your child would like to bring anything to share with the class about Hanukkah they can bring it in on either Monday or Tuesday of this week.

  2. If your child would like to bring in anything to share with the class about Christmas they can bring it in on either Wednesday or Thursday.

  3. We have our class winter celebration on Thursday from 11:30 to 12:30.  Please pack an extra snack for the celebration.

  4. I am planning on showing a movie possibly starting on Thursday and finishing on Friday.  The movie choices are Matilda, Roger Rabbit 2, Toy Story, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, or Balto.  Please let me know by tomorrow if you don’t want your child watching one of these.

  5. Friday is Fisher Fun Day.  We will be participating in a sing-a-long, DJ, crafts, Bingo, and coloring with our grade level.   Your child will be coming home with a white decorated bag on Thursday for you to pack them a special snack for Friday Fun Day.  Please keep an eye out for it.

  6. At the end of my update please check up the Spirit Week and what to wear!

  7. NO HOMEWORK this week.

What we are working on.

Reading: 

  • Learning about open syllables and continuing to work with multi-syllable words.

  • Reading nonfiction books and doing the following: Activating background knowledge, identifying main ideas, determining what is most important in a book, questioning and making connections to self, a book, or the world. 

Writing:

  • Researching and writing an all about book about an animal of their choosing.

  • Always looking at grammar e.g. uppercase letters, end marks, nouns, verbs,  adjectives and the 4 types of sentences.

Math:

  • Number Corner: Looking at patterns, and adding 10 and 9, and learning about symmetry.

  • Bridges Math: Solving two-digit story problems and grouping items in 10s and 1s.

Science/Social Studies:Hanukkah and Christmas
