  • Tuesday, May 23rd we will be clapping out the High School Seniors that went to Fisher.  The students always get so excited for this.
  • Wednesday, May 24th we have an assembly sponsored by Fisher's amazing PAC. The speaker is 

    Chris Poulo.  He is a motivational speaker.

  • Thursday, May 25 we will be seeing the 5th grade talent show.
  • We might be having our last Docent on Friday, May 26th. 
  • There will be no more math homework this year.
  • Upcoming events:  Sneak peak 
    • Monday June 5th - Students may bring in board games from home and we will play board games for 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours on Monday.
    • Tuesday June 6th will be PJ and Stuffed Animal Day.  If the weather is good we will picnic outside.
    • June 7th field trip to the aquarium.
    • June 8th will be Movie Day.
    • June 9th Field Day 
    • June 12th we will work on a STEM project in our classroom.
    • June 13th is our Summer Celebration.
    • June 14th last day of school, and it is a half day.  We will clap out the 5th grade and have move up day.
   
Reading -
  •  Staring to learn about the oo, ou, ue, and ew spelling pattern and the sound like in spoon, and oo spelling pattern the sound like in book.
  • Chunking longer words into smaller parts to help with decoding and spelling.
  • Continuing to learn about the 6 syllable types. We have learned closed (cat), open (hi), magic e  (bike), r-controlled ( bird), double vowels (out) and the le syllable (little).
  • Continuing to work on activating background knowledge, identifying main ideas, determining what is most important in a book, questioning and making connections to self, a book, or the world.

Writing -

  • Working on synonyms for over used words like fun and very.
  • Reviewing how to write a narrative story.
  • Working on group opinion paragraph and starting independent opinion paragraph.
  • Always looking at grammar e.g. uppercase letters, end marks, nouns, verbs, adjectives and the 4 types of sentences.

Math -

Finishing Number Corner for May-
  • Addition and subtraction facts.
  • Adding and subtracting within 1,000.
Bridges - Starting Unit 8
  • Adding, subtracting, skip counting with numbers up to 1,000.

Social Studies  - Learning about what is a need and what is a want.

Science - Learning about animals and plant life.  Our marigolds and sunflowers are growing.
